Håkon Kornstad – tenor and bass saxophones, flute, flutonette and live looping
In the winter of 2020 I was planning to release a vinyl compilation of my three solo saxophone albums — Dwell Time (2009), Symphonies in my Head (2011) and Live in Sarajevo (2015).
Then I got the idea to record some more music in the Sofienberg church in Oslo—right across from where I live. Just days after my recording session, the world went into a pandemic lockdown. Suddenly I found myself with a lot of time on my hands… I ended up mixing and producing a full new solo album in my home studio, and started streaming concerts from there, too, for an audience sitting in their homes. I guess we were all feeling a bit out of the loop…
The final result is a double vinyl featuring both the new album and the compilation. I hope you will enjoy it as much as it gave me joy making it. And most of all—I hope you will be able to make it to a concert very soon, and experience live music again. My own music will always thrive best in concerts, and I miss playing and singing for you all!

Es ist diese eigentümliche Stimmung zwischen Schlaf und Aufwachen, die „Out of the Loop“ auszeichnet. Ein Dämmerzustand, den viele, die dem Albumtitel entsprechend aus allen Zusammenhängen gerissen wurden, nur zu gut kennen. Kornstad hilft beim behutsamen Auftauchen.
